Mobile Cinema Safe
If you live in the Highlands you may well be a fan of the Screen Machinea mobile cinema that operates across the Scottish Highlands and Islands, Western Isles, Argyll & Bute and North Ayrshire. It regularly visits more than 40 rural communities. It is the onlyoperator of the UK's only full-time, self-contained mobile cinema and I am happy to report that it has secured the funding it needs to run its programme for the next three years with a grant of some £620,350 up until March 2021.
Screen Machine Goes On
The service started way back in 1998 and has done stout service touring the Highlands, Inner and Outer Hebrides and Northern Isles. The whole idea is to provide the smallest and remotest places with a real taste of cinema such as townies get all the time. The mobile movie theatre is even 3D compatible, yikes! The cinema tales three films on tour at a time and can seat 80 happy customers at a showing. Each of the tours last about 10 weeks, so it is a real adventure for the one person band who operates the film, drives the truck and sells the tickets. The Screen Machine have a specially made vehicle from France and it has just been home for a refit, but is now back in operation.
No Time for the Flicks
Now here at James Pirie we don’t get out to the movies very often, what with order fulfilment and now we have the whole thing of deciding on our 2018 ranges and partners, new photography and yes lots more. Oh, it’s a heavy burden but one we take on with a happy heart. And if you can’t wait for a whole heap of new products then take a look at the all new Diamante Gin and Tonic Copa glasses which are perfect for drinking gin and tonics and lovely gin based cocktails. And it's half price!
