Sniper Finds Gold in’ Them Thar Hills ‘–

It’s a Whopping Great Nugget

Now I’ve written before about Scottish gold, because finding it is extremely rare and definitely very hard work, particularly with the process known as ‘sniping.’ If you want to ‘snipe’ you need a skin diving suit, face goggles and snorkel, a resistance to cold and enormous reserves of patience. And now the biggest ever nugget found on these shores has surfaced almost literally from a Scottish river, which one they won’t tell use for fear of sparking a national gold rush. No you like me might be more familiar with the Chicken Mc Nugget than the golden type, but a lump of gold worth more than £50,000 is some find.

Bingo!

The discovery was made two years ago but until now it has been top secret as the finder seeks to keep the area away from the news. The nugget weighs 85.7g, and is by far the largest ever found in the UK. The finder is a man in his 40s, I ask you would any woman be daft enough to do this stuff, was ‘sniping when he found the nugget and yelled “Bingo!” to his fellow prospector. This stuff is a legal minefield too as the Crown can put in a bid for the nugget and the finder would have no option but to sell.  Just over a year ago a gold nugget worth £10,000 was discovered by a Canadian man during a gold panning course near Wanlockhead in the Lowther Hills so there is gold ‘them thar hills,’ though probably not much of it.
