Great Scot Tries Again
It shouldn’t surprise anyone that a slightly reddish haired Scot playing professional sport outdoors should have a sponsor that manufactures sun-screen. So I was not shocked to find that Sir Andy Murray has brought a British sun-screen brand under his brand umbrella, or should I say parasol! Slap it on Sir Andy.
Sir Andy Murray grew up in sunny Dunblane, Scotland and he has won the Wimbledon men’s singles twice, my missus was there and fainted at the first one in 2013 and for a time the Great Scot was World Number 1. Then came disaster and a resurfacing hip operation in 2019, but the Dunblane kid is made of tough stuff and he’s back at the coal face trying his luck against the best in the world. At Wimbledon he was knocked out in 5 sets by World number 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas, who we can’t resist calling Sissypants, apologies all round!
But the great warrior is hoping it wasn’t his last try at the SW19 tournament, one of the four Grand Slams in the sport which he first played some 23 summers ago and now he’s a bionic World number 36. I’ve just looked it up, metal hip and all. But it’s not quite enough to get him seeded in next week’s US Open just yet.
Sir Andy very kindly invited the British Iranian hostage Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who spent six years in an Iranian prison, to watch him play at Wimbledon this year after he found out one of the few pleasures for the detainee was watching him play tennis. Yes after some of the stress Andy has put me through over the years I can imagine how it would grip you to watch it in a confined space. The new metal hip has worked much better than the surgeons had hoped for and it’s a modern miracle of science that Sir Andy can be up there with the best of them and I truly hope that if I can get tickets again for the famous tournament in 2024 I’ll be there to say: “Go on Andy!” one last time as the old stager tries his luck at the world’s premier sporting venue..
And you should try your luck in our GRAND SUMMER SALE where some of the very best is on offer at hugely reduced prices like these quality seconds 6 Edinburgh Barrel Tumblers in robust industrial boxes by Royal Scot Crystal and there is a whopping 70% off saving you almost £200.
