G&Ts Overtake Tea as Nation's Favourite Drink

As you might know all blog writers are very partial to a survey, because it allows them a bit of wind under their writing wings and a chance to poke fun at surveys. However, sometimes one comes along that suggests something pretty big. And in the week that Typhoo tea filed for protection in insolvency comes the news that Gin and Tonics have overtaken tea as the nation’s favourite drink. The survey of tastes was conducted among a couple of thousand people and this group chose a G&T over just the tea! You could knock me down with a feather.

Now I don’t know the age and profile of the demographic chosen, but they sound young to me, because G&Ts are trendy drink. And the UK is the world’s largest market for gin so I am told. But it isn’t like the engravings of Hogarth where gin led to dissolution, today’s gin is a smart drink and a refined tipple for smart and refined people.

I’ve just made a cuppa of builders for a friend arrived after a long drive from the country, but I’m sure if I’d offered a G&T I would have got an equally strong. “Yes please!” It seems the nations are falling out of love with a hot brew and it’s a trend that is accelerating, not slowing. Many more people like herbal teas which are much more expensive, but have lots of perceived benefits as well as long and strange names. For example I have no idea what echinacea is and how to pronounce it, but the internet tells me it’s good for a person, unless you take it regularly and then it’s very bad for you, confused? I am!

Well one way to be without confusion is to shop our latest sale.Take a look at these G&T glasses with a massive 70% off.
