All Board for the Hogwarts Express - Champagne Ideas

With the rest of the UK under endless umbrella of dry and astonishingly hot weather the call of Scotland is something to behold. The weather in both the nation’s capital and the second city Glasgow is, well let’s say Scottish. The temperature is 16° degrees cooler than the embattled south. Last week was the day of the emergency voice message and text on the dangers of wildfires, but Scottish weather is slowly reasserting itself.

Which is just as well for the Hogwart’s Express which is a steam train and they are very tricky to run through parched landscapes with the threat of country blazes. This is actually the Jacobite a steam train which travels between Fort William and Mallaig over the Glenfinnan Viaduct and it gives those countless Hogwarts fans the chance to see for themselves the magnificent scenery as shown in the Harry Potter films.  But safety regulations almost meant that the train might not run this year.  The Jacobite contributes nearly £20 million a year to the Scottish economy plus ticket revenue of £5m  so it’s a boon to the nation. But after the inevitable back and forths the train operator has put in central locking onto their carriages and made them ready for the 21st century at a cost of some £7m. Which is a pretty huge bill!

But we here at James Pirie don’t like to give our fabulous customers big bills and even when we introduce a great new item we trim the costs and bring it to you with a low, low price tag. And with a little fanfare I’d like to introduce you to the NEW Edinburgh Cranberry Crystal Saucer Champagne Coupe Glasses from Royal Scot Crystal in a smart presentation box.
